Sustainable In-Situ Soil Remediation at Amaala’s Triple Bay

Project overview

d57bbaf9e5ca303817a40d6afdcb7b2e36e7b63e

WJ Saudi was appointed to deliver a pioneering environmental remediation solution for Triple Bay, the flagship destination within the Amaala giga-project by Red Sea Global. Located within the ecologically protected Prince Mohammed bin Salman Natural Reserve, Triple Bay is a landmark in ultra-luxury, sustainable tourism and is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 transformation.

Location

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Natural Reserve, Saudi Arabia

Client

Red Sea Global

This world-class destination features:

  • 8 luxury resorts with 1,200+ rooms
    High-end residential units
  • A 120-berth yacht marina for superyachts up to 130m
  • Holistic wellness, medical, and sports facilities
  • An environmentally sensitive design integrated into the coastal and desert ecosystem

WJ Saudi was entrusted with remediating a contaminated coastal jetty area, enabling its transformation into a public recreational beachfront without harming the surrounding environment.

Our Solution: In-Situ Soil Remediation

WJ Saudi, in collaboration with Ultratech, designed and implemented a first-of-its-kind in-situ bioremediation solution in Saudi Arabia. This approach eliminated the need for excavation and off-site disposal by treating the soil directly at its original location.

Key Components of the Remediation Process:

  • Wellpoint Dewatering System
Installed to lower groundwater levels and isolate the contaminated zone for targeted treatment.
  • Injection of Eco-Safe Reagents
A bespoke blend of environmentally friendly chemicals and bio-agents was injected to chemically and biologically break down pollutants in the soil.
  • Real-Time Monitoring and Analysis
Ongoing performance monitoring ensured precise control, validated the effectiveness of the treatment, and minimized any ecological disruption.

Outcomes & Impact

  • Eliminated need for excavation and soil transport
  • Minimized environmental disruption to nearby marine habitats
  • Reduced carbon footprint of remediation works
  • Achieved full regulatory compliance with environmental standards
  • Enabled transformation of the site into a safe, usable beachfront area

WJ Saudi’s approach contributed directly to the sustainable development goals of the Amaala project, reflecting a new standard in green engineering for tourism and infrastructure in the region.

Significance: Driving Vision 2030 through Environmental Innovation

This project signals WJ Saudi’s expansion into environmental ground engineering, broadening our traditional expertise in dewatering and groundwater control. By introducing a cutting-edge soil remediation technique, WJ Saudi has helped set a new benchmark for sustainable construction in the Middle East.

As Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects like NEOM, The Red Sea, and Amaala continue to push boundaries, WJ Saudi stands ready with bespoke engineering solutions that support both environmental responsibility and ambitious development targets.

Conclusion

WJ Saudi’s successful delivery of in-situ soil remediation at Triple Bay exemplifies the powerful intersection of engineering excellence, sustainability, and innovation. Our work supports not just a single project, but a broader national vision—building a greener, smarter, and more luxurious future for Saudi Arabia and the world.
